Stefano Sessa opting to avoid the stuff at the top with a seal launch but probably making life harder than the normal line.
Looking back at the rapid we call Something Else. Just after this convenient pool (this is below Something Else) there is another rapid called Hesitation Drop, which we didn’t run at this low level but have before with more water.
Rowan ‘Southside’ Walpole with a very sweet run of Something Else!
Our group of happy paddlers below Something Else. It was just a really awesome day with an awesome bunch of guys!!!
Hesitation Drop which we gave a miss this time. Note the big rock on the right is a huge siphon.
Stefano – feeding himself in the customary fashion :-) Meyer de Waal running the waterfall, hitting the ledge very hard, denting the nose of the boat but coming out smiling and no injuries. His run made everyone nervous for sure as he had opted to run first.
Uno de Waal with a sweet run of the waterfall.
Stefano pitching it a bit, luckily his deck didn’t blow. Good times! I think he was wondering why his face was so sore. Think the paddle smacked him, ouch.
My run of the fall. Had a solid boof :-) Stoked! Photos by Uno de Waal.
2nd rapid below the waterfall. Watch the pinning/wrapping rock, it can be very nasty.
Portage time. Then we started to get into the strainers, not fun.
Meyer further down. Rowan cruising down another fun but easy rapid.
Stefano, abusing my boat underneath his.
Me on the same rapid. Photo by Rowan Walpole. Stefano, grim that we had to hike out. Very little water, very many strainers = not much fun. But the walk out here wasn’t too bad. Just below the waterfall the walk out is bad.
Hoisting boats up and out. See how the river has spilt? Too little water then.
Looking back at a channel on the lower course.
Me, loving my lovely boat. My hand has healed 100%, apart from the ugly scar. Photo by Rowan Walpole.
Last rays of the day. Good day it was. Just out of interest sake. I create the article on Windows Live Writer, and then click ‘post draft to blog’. Then I go in, check it quickly and choose front page and publish and Bob’s your uncle. No more messing around! :-) Stoked! Thanks Jeroen!!!
Well, there you have it. It was a really excellent day and much fun was had by all! Thanks guys, it was a truly fantastic day.
