Zambezi – Day 7, Final Day – Rapid 26 to Lower Moemba
It was our final day on this magical river. The past six days spent here had been absolutely phenomenal, both from a paddling perspective and from a social one in terms of being around some good people and just clutching out and enjoying life. It was exactly what I needed at that stage in my life. I felt a certain sadness that morning as I knew that the very next morning Luke and I would make the trek back to South Africa, back to reality... (don't miss the VIDEO at the bottom!!!!) |

Zambezi – Day 6, Day Two of the Multiday Trip
The sun rose to clear the darkness and another glorious day started. Our stomachs were not on the happy side of life and things could have been better on that front. But this was the Zambezi and I could have thought of worse places to be at that point in time. Breakfast consisted mainly of bacon on a roll and by the time the first roll was finished the guides and their girlfriends had scoffed the rest. Nice one, we were getting our monies worth alright. Feeling a little disgruntled we headed off on our own towards number eleven and left the raft behind. They would meet us at 12b. |

Zambezi – Day 5, Five Freewheeled and Nine Tamed, Almost
The following morning we felt really hung over. Right, so maybe hung over doesn’t describe the feeling quite enough. We were close on death, awakening with dehydrated brains and regretting taking maximum advantage of the booze cruise! Now the puzzle pieces were shifting together as I fully understood why it was called the ‘baboon cruise’. With only about an hour or two to get ready for the start of our multi-day trip, things were not looking good. The next three nights were to be spent under the African stars so it was time to get our ducks in a row. |

Zambezi – Day 4, Victoria Falls Visit and a Booze Cruise
After three super days of paddling I decided to take a rest day. Muscle pain was increasing but at least my shoulder seemed to be holding out ok. Still, I wanted to take it easy, so while Luke decided to hit the river again, Marten and I visited Victoria Falls while Bart lazed around at Fawlty Towers. |

Zambezi – Day 3, Rapids 11 to 25
Rain fell the entire night and in the morning it was overcast and cool, with no rain. The decrease in temperature was a welcome relief and it was enjoyable to walk into town and exchange some cash. We waited to be picked up at 09:45 but of course we waited for a very long time and eventually Scotch picked us up. Luke and I, the two Dutchman, Marten and Bart and the two Austrians, Mario and Georg would be paddling from below number ten down. It looked like it was going to be a superb day on the river, again! |
