Derde Steen – Wave Wheeling and Blunting

This isn’t really an article as such, just a collection of cool photos which Niell Taylor took of me. I bought a waterproof housing for my Nikon D80 and here are some examples of what it can do. Nicely taken Niell! Derde Steen is a really fun spot to hit when there isn’t wind. Some of these photos were shown in the review I did on the medium Fluid Spice which can be seen under the ‘articles’ section of my website.

Betty’s Bay – Hollow Perfection

The weekend of 25 and 26 April 2009 was an early season river mission. There was water in the Palmiet but not much. Rowan’s parents had rented a cool house overlooking the sea in Kleinmond and as I was lucky enough to be invited with. I then drove to Derde Steen and it was raining very hard and still too dark to see anything. Then I drove to Big Bay and it was still too dark. I sat alone in the car for about 15 minutes and waited for a fraction of darkness to fall away.

Karmers, Cape Town – A Super Surf Kayak Session

23 February 2009 and another session at Karmers. I borrowed a paddle, dry top and my Fluid Nemesis to Luke Longridge and took out my Fluid Element and then we were set for another great session. Louise Coney was kind enough to take all the photos in this article, thanks! It was a really good session with some great waves, just too many kitesurfers. We almost got into a fight more than once... Such a shame they think they own the water.

February 2009 – Surf Kayaking in Cape Town

This is a collection of the few more surf kayaking sessions that we’ve photographed. This article shows shots of only February this time, on three different occasions at three different locations once again, just like in January:

Big Bay 3 February 2009

Muizenberg 8 February 2009

Derde Steen 17 February 2009
